ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chris at FinsterFest 2023

Chris Allison is a folk artist who resides in Mt. Airy, Georgia, with his family. He gets inspiration from colors and patterns found in nature. From the gorgeous hues of flowers to the different colors of fish and snakes, he is amazed and inspired to use those designs in my art.

He has always been interested in art and started drawing when he was about four years old. His favorite thing to draw was skeletons. On a trip with his family to Tijuana, Mexico in 1996, he wandered into a small gallery that carried Oaxacan folk art. He instantly connected and fell in love with the bright colors, dots, and patterns on the small, brightly painted wood carvings and knew he wanted to create colorful, cheerful art. From that moment on, he started using bright colors in his art, and the rest is history.

He loves showing his folk art at festivals, interacting with new and old friends, and gaining energy from other artists! If you ever see him at a festival, be sure to stop by and say hello and check out his work!

In 2021, he built a small studio gallery called Chicken Fried Folk Art, which is open by appointment only. He loves for people to stop by to see his art studio and buy art but also enjoys people stopping by to just hang out.

If you see something online or in one of his videos you like, please make a comment. If you see something you want to purchase, please reach out to him. He ships items using UPS or USPS twice a week or so.
